Why are the flags flying at half-mast so often?

You may have noticed the flags at the Village Administrative Office fly at half-mast quite a bit.

The reason is because we are notified by the Department of Central Management Services when the Governor's Office orders all persons or entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act to fly the flags at half-mast for a designated time span.

Most of the time, the reason they are at half-mast, is to honor a fallen Illinois soldier.

Thank you.
