Water & Wastewater Laborer

The Village of Mahomet (pop. 9,434), is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for full-time employment in the Water & Wastewater Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, electronic meter reading, meter installs, maintenance of the water/wastewater infrastructure, mowing, weed eating, and other duties as assigned. Successful candidates must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record and be able to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis.

Village of Mahomet Application - REQUIRED FOR CONSIDERATION

Economic Development Specialist

The Village of Mahomet (pop. 9,434), is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to serve as its Economic Development Specialist. The position will focus on attracting new businesses, retailers, office complexes, warehousing, and other new commercial developments. Propose creative solutions for redevelopment and revitalization projects and other development challenges. Implement programs related to economic development, assist in commercial area redevelopment, and other short and long-term economic planning efforts. Experience with TIF Districts preferred. Assists in providing regular Economic Development related updates and recommendations to the Village Board and Administrator. 

A bachelor’s degree in or equivalent in business, marketing, economics, urban planning, or public administration or related field plus a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a local government, quasi-governmental or private sector setting, demonstrating experience and success in economic development or similar field. Higher experience level candidates (10+ years) are encouraged to apply and will be given full consideration. Position title change may be considered, dependent on qualifications

Mahomet is a charming village with an ideal location between Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana and Decatur. Mahomet is one of the fastest growing communities in Central Illinois. Mahomet is a non-home rule Village operating under a President/Trustee form of government. The Village has 40 full time employees, along with seasonal and part-time positions. The Village delivers a full range of municipal services with a FY 2024 budget of $29.9 million.

The starting annual salary range for the position is $55,000 to $75,000 dependent on qualifications and experience. The Village also provides employees with an excellent and comprehensive package of fringe benefits including health, dental, vision insurance, IMRF retirement, sick, personal and vacation time.
