400 E Main Construction Update (Friday November 1, 2024)
This is the BIG DAY.
The street and PARALLEL parking spaces open end of day on Friday, BUT the site is still under construction. Please be careful! Most of the diagonal spaces will be opened Saturday evening.
This week, Mid IL finished work at some of the building fronts. Still have a few outstanding items.
They installed the street furniture, sealed pavement joints, and backfilled planter islands. They are still waiting on the bollard delivery which may not be until Thanksgiving. They will be installed ASAP upon delivery and you will be given as much notice as possible.
Prairieview Landscaping, the sub-contractor for the paver installation, finished installing pavers for parking areas. They will complete the ADA symbols the week of November 4. They will need to come back and complete the pavers around the bollards when those are installed.
Outstanding items:
They will continue to work on these items this fall: Trees should be getting planted in the next couple of weeks.
These items will be installed in winter or spring: Street lighting, lighting controller, and sound system. Landscaping and mulch.
The completion date for the project is May 16, 2025.
400 E Main Construction Update (Friday October 24, 2024)
This week, Mid IL has been working on details such as sidewalk and pads for street furniture. Along with REMCO they installed light pole foundations and pedestal foundations. The pedestals are for electric and AV outlets.
Prairieview Landscaping, the sub-contractor for the paver installation, has been installing pavers for the crosswalks and parking areas. A lot of progress has been made this past week. The crosswalk pavers will be completed on Saturday, October 26, when a crew comes in to install the fill sand.
Open Road paving prepared and paved the alley south of Main Street on Wednesday and Thursday. It will be rolled again, since the material is still soft and prone to being marked up by turning vehicles.
The bollards have not been delivered. If they arrive the week of October 27, they will be installed and the parking paver and ends of the project can be completed. Otherwise, there will need to be some temporary traffic control set up until they are installed.
The road and parking spaces are still planned to be opened to traffic next Friday Nov 1 by 5pm.

The week of October 20, they will work on building façade touch up items such as replacing molding, siding, and repairs.
REMCO Electric finished conduit work at the back of Russell Park. They installed 3 handholes in Russell Park. They were also working with Mid IL to prepare and install the streetlight pole foundations, but that work has been delayed until the week of October 20.
Prairieview Landscaping, the sub-contractor for the paver installation, has been busy drilling weep holes for the paver drainage all week. On Thursday, they started installing pavers for the crosswalks and parking areas.
The Village is going to be resurfacing the alley south of Main St on Thursday, October 24 so the alley will not be accessible that day until the morning of Friday, October 25.

Mid IL poured the majority of the roadway pavement on Tuesday October 8. It was an impressive operation.
Mid IL is currently working on the Lincoln and Elm ends to construct the crosswalks and roadway flares at the intersections. They poured the tan concrete bands for the crosswalks on Friday October 11. They plan to pour the concrete curb and pavement flares on Saturday morning.
The sub-contractor for the paver installation is expected to start the week of October 14.
The sidewalk ramp on the south side of Main St at Elm St will be constructed the week of October 14. Access from this end of the block will not be available for most of the week. Pedestrians should access the south side businesses either by using Lincoln Street or Russell Park via the alley.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!
400 E Main Construction Update (Friday October 4, 2024)

Mid IL is working on concrete for the roadway. This week they poured gutters for the roadway which they will finish early next week.
They are also setting up the concrete base course that will go under the pavers for the parking spaces and mid-block crosswalk. A lot of that is planned to be poured next week.
Hoping for much progress next week!

400 E Main Construction Update (Friday September 20, 2024)
Mid IL is starting to work on concrete for the roadway. The first pour will be the tan “ribbon” that goes around the mid-block crosswalk. From there they will start pouring curbs for the roadway and setting up the concrete base course that will go under the pavers for the parking spaces.

400 E Main Construction Update (Friday August 30, 2024)
The project is finally in a state where the construction fence will remain where it is currently, and business access will not be an issue. The only exception is the SW sidewalk ramp at Elm and Main that still needs to be constructed. There will be storm sewer under that ramp and that piping will be constructed next week, so there may be some limited temporary inconvenience.
Temporary lighting has been installed along the construction fence and was in operation Thursday night.
Mid IL removed the old pavement this week and is currently working on the road base.
Items for the week of September 2 include aggregate base course, and storm sewer and under drain installation along the whole block, starting at the SW corner of Main and Elm (by #427).
400 E Main Construction Update (Friday August 16, 2024)
Last week saw a lot of progress with sidewalk construction on the south side. The week of August 12, Mid IL was busy building the sidewalk ramps on three of the four corners (delayed SE corner until after festival). They will be pouring the remaining work on the three ramps on Saturday, August 17. Fencing was removed so the street will be open for the placement of the carnival rides for the festival. Rock base has been used adjacent to the new sidewalks to safely transition pedestrian traffic from the sidewalk to the street for foot traffic in the carnival area during the festival.
On Monday, August 19, all work will be finished up on the sidewalks prior to the Mahomet Music Festival and any remaining areas will be cleaned up. The street will not be open to traffic.
Starting August 26, the contractor will be back, setting up the fences and removing the old road. The completion date is November 1, so expect the road to be closed until then.
400 E Main Construction Update (Friday August 8, 2024)
Progress was made this week on sidewalk on the south side. The grey sidewalk adjacent to the buildings was poured Thursday, August 8 and was available for foot traffic after 5 PM. The tan sidewalk adjacent to the grey sidewalk was poured Friday, August 9. The week of August 12, the contractor will be working on pouring three of the four corners.
400 E Main Construction Update (Friday August 2, 2024)
There is less progress to report due to weather affecting planned concrete pours.
North Side
The contractor poured a stretch of tan sidewalk on Tuesday in front of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. The railing for the Legion ramp and stairs was completed on Friday, August 2.
South Side
The contractor completed infrastructure work this week on the south side around the entrance to Russell Park, even though no significant progress was visible. A large area from Russell Park to Lincoln is ready and they plan to begin to pour on Tuesday, August 6 and continue until the west half of the block is completed, with the exception of the ramp area at Lincoln St.
The grey sidewalk along the building faces from Russell Park to Elm St should be after that.
The contractor constructed 2 light pole foundations. One near the Brewery and one on the south side near Elm St.
Main Street 400 Block Construction Update (July 26, 2024)
According to the contractor, they are still on schedule to have to have the sidewalk portions done by the Mahomet Music Festival. However, if there are portions of the sidewalk not complete, they will use aggregate surface in those areas. As a general reminder, their plan is to begin work on the street reconstruction after the festival, but the current pavement will still be used for the carnival rides.
North Side
The ramp providing ADA accessibility to the American Legion was poured the week of July 22 as well as the sidewalk next to the Brewery, and a section in front of the Legion and Masonic Lodge. Any remaining sidewalk on the north side is expected to be poured the week of July 29.
South Side
The sidewalk removal was done the week of July 15. The week of July 22, the contractor worked on façade preparation on the buildings, sidewalk staking, grading and forming which is a slower process. They also relocated some water shutoff valves and removed a fiber handhole and relocated another one. We expect around the middle of the week of July 29, the first of the sidewalks poured on the south side starting on the west end. Completing the south side is expected to take right up to festival week. The contractor can work Monday August 19 but then is shut down the rest of the week.
Work on August 19 should only consist of random clean up, maybe form removal, and moving the fences out of the way (to storage area S of alley near Dunbar).
