Landscape Waste Collection Program

 

LANDSCAPE WASTE CURBSIDE COLLECTION PROGRAM

 

The programs are intended to provide appropriate alternatives to open burning of seasonally generated landscape waste materials from property in the village and are not intended for collection of landscape waste materials generated from the complete removal of trees and the clearing of excessive amounts of landscape waste which would otherwise be handled by a professional contractor.

 

PLEASE NOTE THE HIGHLIGHTED AREAS FOR CHANGES OR CLARIFICATION TO THE PROGRAM

 

BRUSH & TREE LIMB COLLECTON PROGRAM CHANGE - BEGINNING IN APRIL 2024, the maximum amount of materials placed on a property for collection cannot exceed a pile larger than eight feet long by five feet deep by four feet tall (8 feet x 5 feet x 4 feet)

LEAF COLLECTION

 

In accordance with Ordinance 10-05-01 & Village Code § 50.35-40. Please read this ordinance.

 

Waste must be free from limbs and other large debris and shall be placed into piles and deposited within three feet of the curb or street edge prior to scheduled and announced collection day. Materials shall be placed for collection prior to 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled and announced collection day, but not more than seven days prior. Bagged or containerized leaves shall not be placed

 

ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS:

  • Leaves from Trees, Shrubs and other Plants.
  • Dried non-woody stems and perennial plant debris less than one (1) foot in length.
  • Dried ornamental grasses cut less than one (1) foot in length
  • Pine needles and pinecones.

 

UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS:

  • Soil
  • Lawn grass/sod and weeds.
  • Root masses from plants, shrubs or trees.
  • Hedge apples and similar seed pods/fruit.
  • Bagged or containerized leaves.
  • Limbs and branches.
  • Bricks, rocks, or stone.
  • Lumber, or other construction materials. 
  • Household refuse.

 

BRUSH/TREE LIMB COLLECTION:

 

In accordance with Ordinance 10-05-01 & Village Code § 50.35-40. Please read this ordinance.

 

Brush and tree limbs, similarly aligned, are to be placed in distinct piles within three feet of the curb or street edge, perpendicular to the curb or street edge. Materials for all zones are to be placed prior to 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of the scheduled and announced collection week but not more than seven days prior. Bound or tied bundles of brush and tree limbs will not be collected.

 

 

ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS:

  • Brush, shrub, and tree limbs no longer than five (5) feet in length and no greater than six (6) inches in diameter, placed perpendicular to the curb or street edge.
  • Woody stems and dried perennial plant debris greater than one (1) foot in length.

 

UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS:

 

  • Brush piles may not exceed eight feet long by five feet deep by 4 feet tall (8’ x 5’ x 4’)
  • Soil
  • Lawn Grass/Sod and Weeds
  • Root masses from plants, shrubs or trees.
  • Hedge Applesand similar seed pods/fruit.  
  • Leaves.
  • Bound, tied, or bagged materials.
  • Bricks, rocks, or stone.
  • Lumber, or other construction materials.
  • Christmas Trees.
  • Materials generated from the complete removal of trees and the clearing of excessive amounts of landscape waste (must call tree removal service).
